Inversion

I took this underwater photo in a swimming pool with a very specific idea in mind: to reverse everything. My goal was to stage a circus act, specifically aerial silks. Normally, it's a discipline where the artist performs in the air, suspended from a long fabric hung overhead. Here, I wanted to transpose this spectacle into the water… and then completely reverse the image's orientation: the surface becomes the ground. The water lines visible in the pool immediately inspired me. I used them as guides to bring dynamism, perspective, and depth to the scene. They accentuate the feeling that we're entering another world. The photo was taken during a French Championship, so there was no room for error: everything had to be perfect from the moment of capture, because the time for retouching was very limited.
